Agricultural Cooperation and Cocoa Trade Between Turkey and Ghana Discussed

Ghana’s Minister of Agriculture, Eric Opoku, Ghana’s Ambassador to Ankara, Abdul Nasiru-Deen, and the high-level delegation accompanying them visited the Central Anatolian Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association on 19 February 2026. During the visit, opportunities for mutual cooperation between Türkiye and Ghana—one of the world’s leading cocoa-producing nations—were discussed in detail. In particular, the supply of cocoa and cocoa products, along with the processes of transforming these raw materials into value-added products through Türkiye’s advanced food industry, formed the focus of the discussions. The meeting was attended by OAİB Secretary General Musa Demir, Deputy Secretary General Dr. Fatih Yumuş and Association staff, alongside representatives from four member companies active in the sector. During the meeting, consumption habits in the African market and Ghana’s strategic position in the region were discussed; meanwhile, Türkiye’s disciplined and reliable industrial culture—spanning from agricultural production to the export of processed food—was conveyed to the Ghanaian delegation.
